Having said that, the reason your TV is going blank is most probably because the Screen resolution set on your Laptop is not supported by your TV. Try setting your Lapop at a very low resolution, say 800x600, and then connect. Sometimes, there might be some special keys that you have to press on your laptop to route video through S-Video OUT port. But I do not think this is the case in your scenario.
