Do You Think Fairy Tales at Their Core Are Sexist?

Was not everything sexist back when the fairy tales were written? I mean, if they were written modern day that would be a different thing, but they were not . They were written back in a time when the men were undoubtably considered dominant in pretty much every aspect of life. It's the way society used to be. The world has changed since then, our ways of life are totally different.

You do not sound like you've done one iota of research. You have fallen into that trap where opinion is more important than knowledge. Biblical commentaries, help to figure out who the writer is, his audience, the socio-econmic atmosphere of the time, the style of writing used to best make their point, when and if scribes interfered with the author's intent, how a passage relates to biblical canon and more and more. 2. Dressing my horse up as a fairy/princess for a costume class?

Not really. As long as the costume will not cause harm to your horse, I do not see it as stupid. It's for a costume class, so it would not be viewed as immature. Everyone else there will be dressing up their horse as well. Heck, I dressed up my horse as Harry Potter, we've gone as the Headless horseman a few times, we even did Charlie the Unicorn. If you have the attitude to pull it off then do it!

I recommend yu yu hakusho,rurouni kenshin and hunter x hunter,all of those are great shounens with great characters etc and all three are in my top 10

8. Are Fairy tales entirely that misogynistic?

You can not look exclusively at the Disney version of fairy tales and expect them to reflect whatever the original story was supposed to be. Disney... is a business... they Disney-fy stories so that they will sell to the general public. Stories, legends and fairy tales change over time. It's part of the human experience. Things evolve or a storyteller wants to add their own flair to improve something. It just is. I do not think it has to do with sexualizing or keeping down the women in the stories, so much as they are just reflecting the times they were from.. I mean in one version of the Little Mermaid she turns into seafoam at the end of the story. And the prince was a jerk. In fact, there was a note in some versions that she turned into an air spirit of sorts and she would get to go to Heaven in some odd number of years if she did good acts. HOWEVER, that she could travel around and if a child was behaving... a year was taken off her sentence, but if a child was misbehaving... a year was added to her sentence. (All this to get kids to behave, think of "Santa will bring you a present if you are good, coal if you are bad.) Sleeping Beauty was an interesting story, as well. One of the earliest versions was Sun, Moon & Talia in which the girl was put to sleep, but a king comes along and rapes her while she's unconscious! She gives birth to twins and one of them suckles the spinning needle from her finger so that she wakes up. (What is that supposed to tell children? But, you notice... the Disney version is nothing like that.) Seriously. Fairy tales are weird for all generations. But, they are just stories. Sometimes fun. Sometimes weird. Sometimes a little WTF, but all entertaining. If you want a good fairy tale that does not appear sexist to you, then make one up. Write them down, pass them along. Tell them to children.
